The 41-year-old In Da Club star has released his
first-ever collection of men's underwear with the brand Frigo, starting his own
limited-edition luxury line called Frigo Crown. But the collection only
includes two pieces: a T-shirt and a pair of boxer briefs for $150 apiece.
Fitty
seems to have been inspired by a disappointment with men's underwear options
already on the market. While women have a wide range of lingerie to choose
from and plenty of luxury items from
brands like La Perla and Agent Provocateur
men simply don't.
'For a man, everything comes three in a pack. No
one’s saying, "Let me figure out how to evolve men’s underwear,"' he
told People. No one except 50 Cent, that is. Both his boxer briefs and T-shirt
come in blue, covered with a print featuring a lion in a crown. The rapper was
reportedly very hands-on in creating the pieces, working with the company to
choose the patented moisture-wicking fabric, come up with the logo, and design
the 'customizable pouch' to secure a man's intimate parts.
'Once you adjust it that first time, it’ll stay that
way, which is cool,' he added encouragingly. He also recognizes that at $150 a
pop, these undies are pretty special and
may need to be saved for special occasions. 'Wear them when you know some
action is going to take place. Hopefully you’ll put them on and take them off
shortly thereafter!' he said.
With only 900 pieces being made and sold exclusively
at Neiman Marcus and on Frigo's website, interested customers may have to act
fast. And if they don't manage to get a pair, they can always turn to 50 Cent's
old standby. 'A lot of times I stick to what my grandparents would say:
"Wear white underwear [because] it will tell you when it’s time to be
changed."'
