Actor Brad Pitt will not face any charges stemming
from an incident in which he was alleged to have been abusive towards his son, Maddox on a private flight in September. A spokesperson for the FBI confirmed that the
52-year-old had been cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Children
and Family Services for the incident on September 14.
"In response to allegations made following a
flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which
landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has
conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further
investigation," said Laura Eimiller, a spokesperson for the FBI's Los
Angeles field office. "No charges have been filed in this matter,"
she added.
Pitt's wife, Angelina Jolie Pitt, filed for divorce
days after the alleged incident, with her lawyer saying it was "for the
health of the family". Earlier in November the pair reached a custody
agreement for their six children, who will remain with Jolie with visitation
access for Pitt. A final agreement will be part of the couple's divorce
judgment when it is entered.
Pitt and Jolie married in 2014 but had been together
since 2004 after meeting on the set of their movie Mr And Mrs Smith. The last
film they starred in together was called 'By The Sea' which was written and
directed by Jolie. In September, Jolie, 40, issued legal documents citing
"irreconcilable differences" with the date of separation listed as
September 15.
