MOURINHO`S VENGEANCE: Reasons Mourinho will lead United to victory over Pep's City.
Manchester City might be favorites coming into the Manchester derby clash against Jose Mourinho led Manchester United in the English Football League, but that shouldn’t worry Red Devil fans. The two teams have met this season in the Premier League with Pep coming out on top 2 – 1 at Old Trafford. In years gone by, both teams might have looked at the League Cup as a way of blooding youngsters, but the importance of this clash cannot be overstated by the need for both managers to win supporters over.
Pep has seen his team fail to win their last five matches in all competitions while Mourinho’s side suffered a 4 – 0 defeat at Chelsea in their last game. Here are three reasons why Mourinho will thump City tonight;
1. City are without a win in their last five games Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to record a win in their last five games in all competitions and they surely will be under pressure. The Citizens are having their bad period and there are chances that the Red Devils may compound the woes of their ‘noisy neighbours’.
2. City will be without De Bruyne and other key players.
Kevin De Bruyne has probably been City’s best player this season. He scored in the Manchester derby earlier this season with his link up play and ability to find a killer-pass a bonus for Pep Guardiola. De Bruyne got injured before the Champions League game against Celtic and his absense told. City drew with Celtic, lost to Tottenham, Barcelona and drew with Everton.
Kevin De Bruyne posted a man-of-the match performance as he scores City’s first goal when his side played Man Utd earlier in the season
The Belgian returned for the game against Southampton which City also drew, but he was hauled off at half-time and this is a bad omen for Manchester City. Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna are also injury worries with Meppo set to start. How much Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford will love that! 3. City will rotate, Mourinho would not Pep Guardiola has revealed that his side’s last game against Southampton made his players tired which will force him to rotate. Fringe players like Leroy Sane, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Garcia, Meppo, Fernando should all start for the sky blues. Mourinho on the other hand has been coy to name his team or give insight about how he would approach the game.
Iheanacho scores for Man City against Southampton.
4.The likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will start alongside Luke Shaw, Sergio Romero, Daley Blind. United look striker with a second team and Pep will be worried.
