A man carrying a back-packed stuffed with the equivalent of £1.7 million in cash was brutally shot dead by a thief in an incident caught in its entirety on CCTV cameras.
The horrifying footage shows the attacker shooting his victim at a bus stop in Pereira, a city in Colombia. The 30-year-old victim, identified as Luis Stivenson Munoz Cano, was at a bus stop and reports said he was carrying a backpack with the equivalent of '2 million dollars' (£1.77 million) inside.
Local media said Munoz Cano worked for a company called Postobon, the largest non-alcoholic beverages producer in Colombia, and the money was said to belong to his employer. As the man was standing at the bus stop, the attacker approached him with a gun wanting to get the backpack.
Upon seeing the assailant with the gun Munoz Cano picked up the bag to protect it. However not allowing the courier to escape the attacker raised his pistol and shot him dead in a cruel cold blooded killing. The murderer then can be seen picking up the bag and sprinting off over the turnstiles. The victim died at the scene before an ambulance could arrive to help. Blood can be seen splashed on the bus stop floor and no other pedestrians were at the scene.
According to investigators, Munoz Cano often used to carry large amounts of money for the company he worked for, but he was always accompanied by a colleague who had a motorbike. But when the deadly attack took place, the colleague could not come because he was attending a football match, so the victim took the bus instead.
Megabus, the local state-owned public transport company, said in a press release: 'We regret the death of a person in Villavicencio. We send our condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.' The attacker has not yet been identified. Police are currently investigating the case and a £7.2-million (9 million USD) bounty was set for offering details that would lead to the arrest of the attacker.
