A pilot has made an extraordinary emergency landing
with one of his wheels missing at a Brisbane airport. The pilot landed safely
about 10.50am at Archerfield Airport, south of Brisbane, after witnesses
noticed the aircraft having difficulties with its landing gear an hour earlier,
9 News reported. Onlookers cheered as
the pilot touched down.
Footage shows
the plane descending with two out of three wheels visible, but it lands safely
and skids slightly off the runway onto the grass. The plane is tilted to one
side as it lands on its belly, dragging through the field and spinning,
eventually coming to a stop.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the pilot had
to perform a few circuits of the airport before landing. 'The pilot did a great job considering,' she
said. The cause behind the landing gear failure is yet to be determined.
