T.I. received plenty of praise for criticizing Lil
Wayne’s comments about Black Lives Matter. No such applause came from Reginae
Carter, the daughter of Lil Wayne, who questioned T.I.’s motives.
“You lost his number?” she wrote on T.I.’s original
Instagram post. “You should’ve copied and pasted this and sent it to him thru
via text, but you wanna seek for attention.”
Carter’s name was brought up in T.I.’s public letter
to Lil Wayne. The veteran MC referenced Carter when speaking about his longtime
friendship with Weezy.
“Wayne I’ve known you over a decade,” T.I. wrote.
“Our daughters grew up together practically. Reginae spent countless times at
my house with Niq-Niq when you were in prison & you extended my daughter
the same courtesy when I was in the same position. Our relationship outside of
music is what makes me sensitive to your disposition. I KNOW you wired a bit
different than most other responsible adults, but still nigga U TRIPPING!!!!”
T.I. said that he was willing to help Lil Wayne if
the New Orleans rapper needed to be educated on anything regarding Black Lives
Matter. He also stated that he was prepared to end their friendship if Weezy’s
attitude did not change.
“I’ve been proud to call myself a fan & a friend
of Lil Wayne, but if that must end in order to stand up for those who can’t do
it for themselves…So be it,” T.I. wrote.
Lil Wayne did apologize for his comments in the
Nightline interview. The rapper did not retract any of his statements though.
Instead, he claimed to have not put any thought into his answer after being
upset by a question about his daughter.
