It looks like 50 Cent might be putting down the microphone
for good sometime in the semi-near future if his comments in a recent interview
are to be believed. The rapper and actor born Curtis Jackson still has yet to
drop his long-awaited sixth album, Street King Immortal, but has stated that
he’s intending to continue his still-budding career as an actor and media
producer.
Fifty spoke with Muscle & Fitness magazine to discuss
how he maintains his physique but jumped into other topics in the chat as well.
But it was his comments that concluded the interview that should draw interest
from fans of the veteran Queens mogul.
“I want to finish with, Street King Immortal, I don’t want
to write another record after that. You know how some artists got to have confirmation
that they’re right. I have that confirmation in fucking 35, 40 million [albums]
that I already sold,” said 50 after answering a question on why he hasn’t
dropped Street King Immortal after announcing it in 2011.
50 did drop the Animal Ambition in 2014, but it didn’t earn
him the same RIAA certifications as his previous releases. There was also discussion about his ongoing critique with
FOX’s hit Hip Hop drama, Empire, and how he feels that his top-rated original
Showtime series Power is largely ignored by critics.“Empire just borrows marketing ideas [from Power] because
they have the same target audience. I’ve said it over and over: I don’t have a
problem with the cast … But I don’t see Empire sustaining itself,” he said of
the show.50 threatened to leave Power earlier this month when it
failed to garner any Golden Globe nominations and he was recently announced as
a cast member for the upcoming Gerard Butler movie, Den Of Thieves. He also addressed his possible casting in the next Predator
movie.“I’ve met with the writer and director,” he said. “[Shane
Black’s] one of the guys who’s really sought after in Hollywood. But it’s a
Hollywood thing, hurry up and wait.”
