Apollo looks like he wouldn’t hurt a fly but if you
mess with his family you’d better watch out.
The five-month-old dog saved his owner Carlos
Guzman’s girlfriend from being sexually assaulted in Brooklyn, New York, on
Monday.
The dog flew into action after he saw Maya
Fairweather, 18, being attacked by a stranger after she took him out for a walk
in the Red Hook section at around 10pm.
The man had shoved her to the floor and was ripping
her trousers off when Apollo came to the rescue. The dog had been allowed to run free in a park.
‘He was protective,’ she told New York Post. ‘I think it would’ve been a lot worse. I wouldn’t
have been so lucky.’ Then pit bull bit the suspect on the leg, which
momentarily distracted him and allowed Ms Fairweather to get away.
She added: ‘He is a sweet dog. I never thought he
would bite anyone. He never bit anyone before. He’s usually very friendly and
just jumps on everyone.
The attacker eventually managed to get free from
Apollo and ran away.
Police are now looking for him. Neither Ms Fairweather nor Apollo were hurt.
