His transfer to a new parish at a point became an issue as
his followers saw it as a major distraction to his adoration ministry. They
were afraid of the unknown but Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the fiery Enugu Catholic
priest who prophesized the end of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s era may
have had a premonition of what was ahead of him.
Before he departed Christ the King Parish, GRA, Enugu to an
obscure Our Lady Rosary Parish, Emene,
earlier in the year, he told the congregation that God was about to lift
adoration ministry to greater heights.Few months after the transfer, Mbaka, in an interview with
Petrus Obi at the permanent site of Adoration Ground, Emene said, “the Journey
to the adoration permanent site is a blessing in disguise and I welcomed it
with joy even though I was misunderstood. Some people thought I would disobey the
church and the Bishop by saying I would not go out; but how could I disobey the
bishop?” Mbaka is urging President Muhammadu Buhari to make his war against
corruption total by extending it to all former Nigerian leaders so that he
would not be seen to be selective. He also asked him to consider bringing on
board fresh hands to support his government. He spoke further on this and more.
How has it been, relocating to Emene from Enugu?
We have moved here and within a few months, the number of
people coming here has increased more than 20 times and we have started a new
parsonage, Adoration parsonage, and it is nearing completion. God is 100% on
our side and the congregation is happy and I am exceedingly happy also. I am
grateful to the Bishop and the Church that moved me out of Enugu GRA; I’m just
like a fish that was growing inside a bottle and thrown inside the ocean
suddenly. I thank the church for that move from the GRA. The Ministry is
playing a larger role in the global universe; it is not just a parish per se,
it is serving the whole of Nigeria. It is inter-cultural, it is inter
denominational, it is also inter-tribal. Adoration Ministry, Enugu, is the
grand parent to all the new adoration ministries that are growing and God has
given us a home and made Umuchigbo, Nike land where we are, a glorious empire
of the Holy Spirit.
By the Blessed Sacrament, many barren women conceived twins,
triplets and at times dead people rise; like the last experience-a woman who
worships in the Chosen Ministries came here with an 8-month pregnancy of which
the unborn baby had been confirmed dead after an ultra sound. Two days after
other scans had confirmed the baby dead, she came to the adoration ground and
as we were praying, I lifted the Blessed Sacrament before the woman with the
dead child and the child came back to life. The previous week, the woman was
delivered of a living child. We have been having explosion of miracle on adoration ground since we arrived
here. This is where jobs are being
delivered to people miraculously and
indiscriminately; under a week over 300 of our members would get jobs as if the
solution to the recession is here in adoration ministry. And many prayers are
being said here and we are hoping that through the adoration prayers, Nigeria will
receive solution to the current recession. We are not waiting for the president
or the economy; we are using our own supernatural formula, through the power of
the Blessed Sacrament to wage war against the recession as we warred against
Ebola. So, we cannot praise God enough; many blind people receive their sights
here, the deaf hear; there is no day that God does not record shocking
miracles.
Is it the miracles that attract multitudes here or your
blunt words for leaders, or the prophecies?
We are experiencing uncountable miracles as He did in His
own time. What we are experiencing at the new site is the same type of miracle
in John 20:30; John 21:25, uncountable miracles. From where do we start?
Thousands of souls are returning to Christ through the adoration ministry.
People will travel from overseas to dedicate their lives to God at the
adoration ground. It is now a pilgrimage
centre for life-saving, soul saving, and spiritual an financial blessings and
otherwise. Even people with vocational hard luck, we pray for their liberation.
That is why in this community, multiple miracles are being experienced by
people. So, we are very happy; we are excited; we are not regretting our
journey from GRA to the new site. It is a blessing and we thank everybody who
supported us in prayers. The entire members of the adoration ministry are
happy; now that programme has gone to a level beyond human definition; we do
things in ordinary way, God turns it into extra-ordinary. We are not doing
anything different from others but only God knows how he turns the little
things we do into miracles. So, He takes all the glory; I am just an instrument
for the miracle and I am very happy; I am healthy. Since we parked here, I have
never suffered headache; no malaria, nothing. I am strong, enthusiastic and I
have passion to do more for God. I wish to remain with Christ for ever. I have
no problem with the Church and to the glory of God, things are going on well.
We are flourishing like palm trees and growing like the Cedar of Lebanon.
Things are working out fine and we thank God for fresh anointing of the Holy
Spirit because since we parked in here, we have been abiding under the canopy
of fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and that is the secret of the miracles.
Are you also feeling the hunger being felt by the masses
across the country?
No matter how good your intentions; you may want to bring
down heaven on earth, but now they are dying and those who are dead may not be
resuscitated by the time he hits his target. So, while we’re praising the
president for warring against corruption and insurgency, we still pray that he
uses whatever he has to war against hunger before it is too late.
Don’t you believe prayers can solve the problem?
I believe that prayers will help us save the situation;
instead of throwing blames upon blames on dollar hike, naira devaluation, we
believe that prayer, which God used to end the Ebola problem in Nigeria should
be the order of the day. So, one of the weapons should be prayers, fasting,
righteousness, faith in God and hard work; people should begin to work hard.
Our people should begin to work towards self-employment and be less dependent
on government. But government should help to provide roads, tractors for
farmers; every day we hear about agriculture, and it is becoming like a mirage;
people want to see what is happening. We believe that this is the time the
government can sit up and work; if the people the president has chosen are not
working according to his speed, they should be changed. Nigerians are in
millions; why can’t we gather people who specialises in revamping the economy?
I don’t want to mention names, but let me suggest; people like the Soludos, we
have them around; people like Pat Utomi, Ken Ife and other hidden brains that
could be used to revitalize this economy. I believe this recession will not
last long if we use the right principle and personalities; there are people
here and there; even bishops could be used; church leaders should be invited.
Buhari should not be a lone ranger in this issue and the people around him must
not be northerners only. Let him spread his hands and know what he is doing
because people are watching and those who put their trust in him because of the
change mantra.
Nigerians are already blaming Buhari, saying he caused their
problems…
People criticize Buhari for the economic recession but he is
not the one that caused it. Buhari is like somebody called to hold a car
without brakes and the car is rolling down the hill and he has come to hold it;
using a broom as a wedge. Buhari is not the one who collapsed the brake neither
did he push the car down the hill; some people caused it; Buhari is a remedy,
he is not the cause. But the way he is
going about his solution is not appetizing; if he continues like this, he could
be a good corruption fighter but not an economic revivalist; so let him look for
the experts to assist. Let him face the war against corruption with the right
people and let the wrong people suffer for their sins. Even as Buhari should
not be blamed, he has promised to change the system; let the change begin to
happen.
Do you see the Niger Delta militants who blow up oil
pipelines as part of the problem?
I plead with those who are breaking the pipes; we are in a
mono economy, with only oil. There are other areas that could be diversified;
past leaders, not just Jonathan, could not diversify the economy; Obasanjo
could not diversify it, Shagari could not, Babangida couldn’t, and Jonathan
went the same way. So I pray that as he wages war against corruption it should
be 360 degrees; he should even go down to past regimes, he should not be
selective, and everybody will be happy. If the Niger Delta people should stop
breaking the pipes, things will be better; so we plead with them; they are not
just avengers, they are our brothers. If you go to the Niger Delta, you see
that a lot of damage has been done to their soil, the people have been
traumatised. Maybe the blame should go to the people who took money from
government to develop their places, I don’t know, but the Niger Delta was not
developed. Jonathan, after his six years could not develop his land; there was
no transportation programme, no airport; nothing that he started but Buhari has
stopped. So let the move by the Niger Delta youths not be a vendetta against
the whole Nigeria; because when it was coal in Enugu, the people never
collapsed anything. The coal sustained Nigeria; and Enugu is the home of Igbo
and the Igbo were very peaceful. The people have never asked for compensation;
we handled our own era with peace so we pray that Niger Delta people will find
another way of approaching issue and not breaking of pipes so that the Nigerian
economy could be revived. I pray that
all in every sector should join Buhari because he alone cannot do this work;
Buhari is not David, who with only one stone could kill Goliath. The hunger in
the country is more than Goliath, so we need all hands to be on deck to battle
it. The politicians who are working for his down fall should know they are
working for the downfall of Nigerians; and as I advocated, let Buhari go deeper
into what happened to our economy because I don’t think that the judiciary is
the cause. There are people who swindled this country in amounts running into billions. These people looted
our wealth. So, there should be serious business because there is no time for
him. There is no time; to think that in 2019 everybody will vote for him; it is
what he does now that will speak for him then, not what he has in mind. I pray
that God will bless him and Nigerians should stop throwing blames too early;
there is still time. There is still hope for Nigeria; let us not lose hope.
What do you make of the recent arrest of judges?
Judges should be beyond corruption because they are like
‘God on earth’. If they make mistake in sentencing an innocent man, the person
will die in jail. They can save life, they can destroy life. The judiciary
should not be merchandised; nobody should think he can purchase justice.
If we are sure that the judges arrested are guilty of what
they are accused of; let them be well examined and if found culpable,
punishment could be meted out. I suggest strongly that the arrest of judges
should not be selective;. So if the judges were arrested, what about those who
gave the money; were they exonerated? While arresting the judges, I suggest that those who gave
them the money, if actually they were given money for fraudulent purposes
should equally be arrested. So, the arrest should even go to the senators who
are found culpable; it should go to the House of Reps, it should even be
extended to the executives. People working for Buhari who are corrupt should
equally be arrested and that is when the arrest would represent justice, equity
and fair play; it should not be only for judges. The revolution that is going on in Nigeria is an attempt to
sweep away corruption from all aspects of our lives; from the entire government
structure so we don’t make corruption our culture. Revolutions that would
exterminate corruption from the tap root because corruption is becoming part of
our political culture. The war against corruption is welcomed but it should be prosecuted without bias.
