The Ondo
state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended one of the
factional chairmen, Prince Biyi Poroye, and 21 other members who were said to
have contributed to the party’s defeat during the November 26 governorship
election, Vanguard reports.
According to a statement by the state publicity
secretary, Banji Okunomo, the decision to sack Poroye and other was taken at a
meeting held by the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) earlier yesterday,
November 29.
Okunomo’s statement read: “In line with section 57
of the constitution of our party, and the inherent powers conferred on the SWC
of the party, the following members are hereby suspended from the party with
immediate effect for gross anti party activities: “Arole Denis Alonge Niyi,
Prince Biyi Poroye, Hon. Ebenezer Omotayo Alabi, Hon. Johnson Alabi, Chief Ola
bisi Johnson, Dr Olu Olu Ogunye, Sen. Omololu Moroyi, Chief Mrs Yemi Ajonibode,
Alhaji Musa Megida Chief Isaac Alase, Bar. Sola Ebiseni, Ademola Genty, and
others.”
The statement, however, summoned the suspended
members to show up before the party disciplinary committee on Monday, December
5.
